William Daniel DeHart

William Daniel DeHart - (age 92) - May 10, 1923 – July 1, 2015 We said our final “goodbye” to our wonderful Bill on July 1, 2015. He passed of Congestive Heart Failure with His family surrounding him at the Spokane Veterans Hospice Unit. He is survived by his brother, Paul DeHart of Westerville, Ohio. His daughters, Donna DeHart-Ray of Mead, and Billie DeHart (Seattle), his son-in law, James Ray (Mead) and two grandchildren, Alysa Draper-DeHart and Jamie Ray-Price and one great-grandson Ryan Price. - Bill was born in Paintsville Kentucky and enlisted in the Army Air Corp following Pearl Harbor. He served in the 3rd Army in the European Campaign under General Patton. He fought in the Battle of Mietz and the Battle of the Bulge. Following WWII he met and married the love of his life, Ingeborg Marie Rock. Bill proudly continued to serve in the Air Force for 30 years with a career field of Munitions and Weapons. During that time the family was stationed throughout Europe and the United states. He also had a tour in the Korean War, and three tours to Vietnam where he is was awarded the Bronze Star. After retiring from Fairchild Air Force Base, Bill started a second Career as a crane operator with Bonneville Power. He and Inge purchased a home in Tucson and became snowbirds seeking the sunshine and warmer climate. After the passing of his beloved Inge on July 13, 2002 he went to live with his daughter Donna and family until his passing. A Graveside Service will be at Greenwood Memorial Terrace on July 17 at 1pm, followed by a Celebration of his Life at the family home in Mead.
