PEARSON, Walter Eugene Jr. (Age 84) On November 18,1932 Pearl V. and Walter E. Pearson welcomed the arrival of Walter E. Pearson Jr., another gift from heaven. Born in Libby MT, and graduating from Troy, MT High School in 1950 where he played football on their championship team that year, and later becoming an avid 49er fan. He became envious of people that flew and decided to join the Air Force so he could fly. After his enlistment ended without getting off the ground, he still wanted to fly so he enlisted in the Coast Guard with the promise of flying. After attending several aviation schools and getting his wings as an Aviation Electronics Technician he had his dream job come true, advancing to the rank of AE1, in his 20 years of service. Serving at numerous stations around the U.S. and Canada. "Gene" was also an active bowler with numerous friends in the sport around the Inland Northwest as well as the rest of the country he served. His 3rd great passion was the outdoors with fishing being one of his favorite ways to relax and wait for some action. On Sunday August 6th, Gene was cleared for his final flight and returned to heaven after a short battle with his lungs. He was a loving and caring husband and father leaving behind 3 children with many grand and great-grandchildren. He is survived by his loving wife Joy of nearly 53 years. They found happiness in the Chewelah area in their retirement years with its welcoming residents and activities. He is survived by his daughter Virginia and her husband Mark Borchers and grandsons, Christopher, Nicholas, and Daniel of Nine Mile Falls. In California, he survived by son, Ronald and his wife Hanni Grindrod, along with their children Heidi, Robert, and Becky, as well as his daughter Theresa, her husband Paul Kuhlman and their children Brian, David, and Steven. In Spokane, he is survived by his 1/2 brother William C. and Trudy Olson and family. Gene was preceded in death by his sister Geraldine Nelson and brother Francis Pearson.
