Sylvia Sinohuiz Garibay

"Sylvia Sinohuiz Garibay, 71, of Spokane, WA, passed away peacefully on December 5, 2024. Born on October 14, 1953, in San Jose, California, Sylvia lived a life filled with moments of both light and shadow. Her heart held a profound capacity for love, resilience, and beauty.

Sylvia dedicated her life to caring for others as a licensed practical nurse, a career she pursued while raising four young children—a testament to her determination and strength. She had a deep love for learning and a creative passion for sewing, often crafting heartfelt gifts for her loved ones. Above all, Sylvia held a profound devotion to Jehovah God as one of Jehovah’s Witnesses, whose teachings guided her life and brought her comfort and peace.

Sylvia is survived by her six children: Tabita Ibarra, Misael Heredia, Benjamin Heredia, Maria Sepulveda, Glena Litke, and Stephanie Litke; five grandchildren; two nieces; three nephews; and her sister, Josephine Rankin. She was predeceased by her parents, Mercedes and Ignacio Garibay.

Sylvia and her family shared a complex relationship, but they will forever remain tied by the bonds of family. Her memory is honored with gratitude for the times shared, the lessons imparted, and the love she gave in her unique way.

A private service was held at Hawthorne Funeral Home in Mount Vernon, Washington, on December 31, 2024.

She will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered for her faith, her caring heart, her creativity, and her passion for knowledge.”
