Steve Wallace was born in Springfield, Missouri, on July 13, 1954. He was raised by his mother, Rose, alongside his older brother Aron. He attended Hillcrest High School and graduated in 1972. During his time there, his favorite moments were spent being on the track team and in pottery and art classes. He later went on to do marathons and triathlons for many years.

Since the age of 19, he worked for BNSF railroad as a mechanic. He also previously owned his own sign-making business and worked as a transport driver for exotic animals. He met his wife, Julie Wallace, in Springfield, Missouri, and spent 23 years together before divorcing in 2012. He was a hardworking man, always providing for his family and giving his kids the best life he could.
Steve’s passions were fishing (especially for walleye), golfing, and biking, but he loved spending time with his family the most. He was always soaking in the beauty of this world. His favorite food was Springfield-style cashew chicken. He loved traveling, playing guitar, and listening to music. A few of his favorite artists were Elvis Presley, Led Zeppelin, Chris Isaak, and Kenny Chesney. All four of his children took after him for a love of music. He also liked building and riding classic cars and trikes. He owned a beautiful blue El Camino.
Steve passed peacefully, home, and in loving care on January 17, 2025 after a two-year diagnosis and battle against cancer and dementia. He was the beloved father of Rachel Jenkins, Stephen J. Wallace, Makaila Wallace, and Alyssa Wallace; grandfather to Eli and Zoe; and brother to Aron Wallace. Steve’s smile and laugh lit up a room. He was known to be down-to-earth and would always say “peace and love” and hold up a peace sign. To honor Steve, his family asks to keep his memory alive by sharing peace, love and empathy when times are hard. Steve will be deeply missed, and the memories shared will never be forgotten.
