Obituary for Sarah Elizabeth (Dawson) Beckham
Sarah passed away on February 5, 2024 after a courageous battle with cancer. Born in Seattle, WA to Harold and Jane (Sanford) Dawson of Redmond, WA, she grew up in the Avondale area and attended school in Redmond, graduating from Redmond High School in 1973. She went on to attend Western Washington University and Bellevue College.
She volunteered with Eastside Search and Rescue and worked for RenaWare before being hired by the Washington State Patrol as a fiscal technician in 1979. At WSP she met her husband, Curtis Beckham, and they were married May 1, 1982. They eventually settled in Olympia, WA, where they raised their two children, Emily and Andrew. She held several positions with the State of Washington over the years and retired from State service in 2020.
Sarah was an avid reader and lover of cats. She enjoyed taking walks through the neighborhood, riding her bike on local trails, and spending time traveling with her family.
Sarah is preceded in death by her mother, father, and brothers Mark Dawson and Jeff Stone. She is survived by her husband Curtis, daughter Emily, son Andrew, sister Martha Svatek, brother Pete Dawson, and many nieces and nephews. A memorial gathering will be held on April 21, 2024 when she is interred with her parents at Cedar Lawns Memorial in Redmond, WA.
