Sara Day Hedahl

Hedahl, Sara Jane Day – Age 77, passed away peacefully on 01/20/25. Sara was born in Scobey, MT on 4/30/47 and was the 6th child of 10 born to Harold and Dorothy Day. She lived on a farm 13 miles south of Flaxville, MT and attended school first thru 6th grade. Her family moved to Glasgow, MT where she attended 7th and 8th grade. She then spent 2 years in Naples, ID attending and 9th and 10th in Bonners Ferry, ID. Completing her high school career graduating in Libby, MT in 1965. Sara worked at Murph’s In and Out in Libby, MT, serving Keith Hedahl a double burger, fries and a Coke, who she then later married on December 4th, 1965. They were married for 51 years and 21 days. While Keith was stationed in FT Riley, KS, Sara worked at the US Army Laundry. Upon returning to Libby, she worked as a waitress at the Libby Café, then as a substitute teacher for the public school, found her calling as the secretary of Christ Lutheran Church and lastly as the front desk staff at the Montana Athletic Club. Sara was active on the Christ Lutheran Church council, church choir, Sunday school teacher, as well as youth leader. She also volunteered at the public schools, Libby food pantry and the Irish Fair Committee. Ultimately, after the passing of her husband, Keith, she spent 1 year in Priest River, ID with her sister Aggie and Dewayne Sunell. She then moved to Spokane, WA and it immediately felt like home. She had her dream apartment on the 6th floor overlooking the city. Many of the residents and staff at the Altura Apartments were like family.

She is survived by her son, Jeremy, her granddaughter Audrey, her son Eli (Tasha), her granddaughters Scarlett, Violett and Everett. Sara was preceded in death by her daughter Lacie on 11/22/2009 and her husband Keith on 12/25/16.

Services will be held in Libby, MT at Christ Lutheran Church at 11 am (Mountain Standard Time) on Saturday Feb 15th.
