June 07, 1940 - November 24, 2023
Richard "Dick" Robertson Ankcorn, 83, of Spokane, Washington (99203), passed away on November 24th, 2023. Born and raised in Palouse, Washington, Dick was one of three siblings, including his brothers Charles "Chick" and Scott Ankcorn, in a family deeply rooted in the hardware store business. Standing at an impressive 6 feet 7 inches, Dick was not only recognized for his height but for his smile and willingness to lend a hand. A graduate of Washington State University and a proud member of the Sigma Chi Fraternity, Dick's journey took a meaningful turn in 1964 when he met his future wife, Diane Stanton of Spokane, at a Cougar Football game. They married in 1966, celebrating 57 years of marriage. One of Dick's cherished places was the family “cabin” on Loon Lake. There, he enjoyed spending time with family and friends, boat rides, and conversations on the porch and beach. For 33 years, Dick worked for NAPA Auto Parts, officially working as a counterman and delivery driver to various shops in Spokane, WA. However, he saw his driving routes as opportunities to spot the next house to buy, remodel and rent out. A man of faith and devoted trustee at Christ Central Church, Dick was known for his ability to fix things, sing loudly, and enjoy snacks and fellowship. His deep faith and commitment to a simple, honest life inspired all who knew him. His gentle strength and wisdom provided comfort and guidance to those around him. We'll remember Dick for his cheerful demeanor and positive outlook. Whenever we think of him, we can almost hear him saying "Up your attitude," ready to offer support whenever it was needed. Dick is survived by his wife, Diane (Stanton) Ankcorn, and his children: David Ankcorn (Kent, Washington), the late Barbara Ankcorn (Spokane, Washington), Dan Ankcorn (Spokane, Washington), and Denise (Ankcorn) Tripp (Shoreline, Washington). He is also survived by his five grandchildren: Gray Ankcorn, Stephen Ankcorn, Nyah Ankcorn, Ben Ankcorn, and Emmaline Tripp. Please join us in a celebration of his life at 11:00 AM on February 3, 2023 at Christ Central Church in Spokane. 19 W Shannon Ave, Spokane, WA 99205
