Ralph Marlowe Tipton

TIPTON, Ralph Marlowe (Age 91) Passed away on January 17, 2023, in Spokane, WA. Ralph was born on November 11, 1931, in Caldwell, ID to Francis and Esther Tipton. Ralph graduated high school from Columbia Seventh Day Adventist Academy in Battle Ground, WA. He had lived most of his life in Spokane since 1955. Ralph was a residential Drywall Contractor. When construction in Spokane came to a standstill in the early 1980’s, he followed work to Anchorage, Alaska where he loved to hop into his float airplane, docked out his back door, to fish after work. He then followed work to Maui, Hawaii where he loved basking in the hot sun and all Hawaii living had to offer. He returned to Spokane in 1992 where he retired and resided for 31 years with his daughter Chris Tipton. Ralph worked hard and played harder at fishing, hunting, snowmobiling, water & snow skiing, flying small aircrafts, boats, cars, camping, and racing all dirt bike events for years. He will be forever loved and missed for his zest of life, joyful enthusiasm, emotional spirit, sense of humor, and for being a loyal family man & friend. We are better for having known him. Ralph is survived by his daughter Christi Tipton of Spokane, son Jerry Tipton of Spokane, sister Carol (Ron) Costa Alpine, CA, two stepsisters' Joyce (Ron) Knutson, Darlene (Lee) Cooley. Five granddaughters Tina Morphis Orndoff (Jesse) of Lacey, WA, Caesy Morphis of Spokane Valley, Alex & Dallas Tipton of Spokane, Larissa Winz Andrews (Richard) of McKenzie Bridge, OR. Seven great grandchildren London, Paris, Zayla, Zyler, Emily, Evan, and Wyatt. One great-great granddaughter Wrenly. Nephew Ron (Gail) Costa of Spokane Valley, and niece Rhonda (Robert) Lopez of Irvine, CA. Preceded in death by his parents, daughter Mardella Tipton Smith, stepmother Mabel Gabbert, and two stepbrothers Johnny & Stanley Johnston. A Celebration of Life gathering will be held March 10, 2023, at Fairmount Cemetery in Sunset Chapel at 11:00AM, 5200 W Wellesley Ave. A light reception will follow the service.
