May 15, 1944 - April 26, 2022
Patricia “Pat” Agnes Wright passed away peacefully on April 26, 2022, at the age of 77. She is survived by her daughter Beth (McFarland) Crossman, her stepsons, Bill and Kevin Wright, her granddaughter, Paige Crossman, her sisters, Kerry and Lou Anne Moxcey, her brother Michael Moxcey, and her nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband of 33 years, Charles. Pat was born May 15, 1944, in Luling, Texas, to John and Eleanora Moxcey. Pat’s father, John, served in the Air Force and as a result, the family traveled extensively to Air Force bases around the world, providing the foundation for Pat’s lifelong love of both aviation and travel. Pat and her parents lived on Air Force bases from Guam, to El Paso, TX; from Germany to Fairchild AFB, and finally to Larson AFB in Moses Lake, WA, where John retired, with the family settling in Spokane. Pat attended Marycliff High School in Spokane and graduated from Moses Lake High School in 1962. Pat spent childhood summers with her beloved Aunt Helen and Grandmother Moxcey in Leavenworth, Kansas. Her time spent in Germany as a child, and her grandparents moving to the US from East Germany, had a large impact on her, as well, and she would have liked to study German in college. She went on to attend St. Mary College in Xavier, Kansas, graduating in 1966 with a bachelor’s of arts degree in French and minor in Russian (because German was not offered). She returned to Spokane and worked at The Crescent and at The Spokane Uniform House, where she met Doug McFarland, marrying him in 1973. They moved to Bishop, CA; Wilbur, WA, and finally to Arvada, CO, where their daughter Beth was born in 1979, and where Pat obtained her pilot's license for small aircraft. The marriage ended in divorce, and in 1988, Pat relocated back to Spokane. Upon returning to Spokane, Pat found a career in office management at Felts Field Aviation. There she met Charles “Chuck” Wright, who was working there as an aircraft mechanic. They would go on to marry in 1990, blending their families, with Pat gaining two cherished stepsons in Bill and Kevin. Pat next worked for Viking Travel, continuing her love of travel. In her free time, and as a silver lining of her career, she traveled extensively, with highlights including a train tour through Canada, and a cruise off the east coast of Canada. She then went on to work for Washington Trust Bank, where she retired in 2010. For the final four years of her life, Pat received loving care at Amani Place. She was an avid attendee of water aerobics classes at the YMCA and loved taking Spyder rides with her husband Chuck. She could be found on as many weekends as possible in thrift stores both near and far, going antiquing with her daughter Beth. Pat cherished the family dogs Bear, Mickey, and Lucy. In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation to the Spokane Humane Society https://spokanehumanesociety.org/donate/ or to the Alzheimer's Association. Services will be held on Sunday, May 15, 2022 at 2:00 pm. Please come to the Pines Cemetery Mausoleum Chapel, 12116 East 16th Ave, Spokane Valley, WA, to celebrate Pat’s life on what would have been her 78th birthday.
