Marilyn Jean Smith (Oliver)
October 25th 1950-November 22nd 2024
It is with profound sadness that I share the passing of my beautiful bride of fifty years. Marilyn’s soul departed from this earth on November 22nd leaving behind a legacy of warmth and kindness. Marilyn was born October 25, 1950, to loving parents Colonel George and Joyce Oliver. Marilyn walked through life with a gentle strength, touching the lives of everyone she encountered. Marilyn loved gardening and flowers and was an outstanding member of the Spokane Garden Club for 30 years. She was employed at Sacred Heart Hospital as the Housekeeping Superintendent. On the weekends, she loved riding on the back of Wendell’s Harley with the wind blowing in her hair. In her later years, Marilyn loved her laptop computer; organizing a trove of family pictures. Marilyn had been working on, and just finished her life book. To to commemorate her incredible journey and to celebrate the love she spread, a memorial service will be held at Sunset Chapel, 5200 Wellesley Ave, Spokane, WA 99205 on January 4th 2025 at 11:00am Reception immediately following the service at the chapel. We invite all who knew her to join us in remembering a truly remarkable woman, wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister and aunt. Marilyn is survived by her husband Wendell Smith, her daughter Mechelle Smith, Stepson Christopher Smith, Nephew Jeffrey Smith, niece Abby Oliver, sister Carolyn Uecker and her husband Mike, Sister -in-laws Rita Oliver, Lori Oliver, four grandchildren, 6 great grandchildren, and many cousins and extended family. Marilyn will be truly missed, but will be welcomed home by her parents and her two brothers, Jim and Skip, who preceded her in death.
