Linda Kay Wilke

October 03, 1946 - October 02, 2016

Our loving daughter, wife, sister, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother went home to the Lord October 2nd 2016, one day before her 70th birthday, after her four-year battle with ovarian cancer. She was surrounded by family and friends at the Hospice House of Spokane. Linda was born October 3rd 1946 in Great Falls, MT to George and Alice Bandel followed by her younger siblings Lorraine and Ed. She attended Great Falls High and during this time she met Ken Wilke through mutual friends. He gave her a ride on his motorcycle and thus began their love. She married Ken on December 27, 1964 and had two children, daughter Jamie in 1965 and son Jeff in 1967. She and Ken then moved their family to Spokane, WA in 1967 where they eventually opened up their own butcher shop, Quadra-K-Meats. Linda was always a great cook and she enjoyed teaching her grandchildren how to bake. She loved being outdoors whether it was feeding her cats, working in her vegetable garden or planting her flowers. She spent much of her time in her sewing room with a number of projects going at once, but Linda's biggest passion was quite possibly genealogy. She dreamed of traveling to Germany to gather some missing pieces to the puzzle, but was able to travel all over the US. She attended genealogy meetings regularly and enjoyed the friendships she made there. She was preceded in death by her mother and her grandparents William and Martha Bandel; and James and Ruth Barbre. Linda is survived by her father; husband; two siblings, Lorraine and husband Joe Bronec, and Edward and wife Kayla Bandel; two children, Jamie and husband Ken Wheeler, and Jeffrey and wife Jolee Wilke; four grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. A public Memorial Service will be held on Thursday, October13, 2016 at 1:00pm at St. John's Lutheran Church 5810 S Meadowlane Rd, Spokane, WA 99224.
