Juanita died peacefully at home with her husband by her side on September 10, 2022, after a courageous battle with cancer. She was born in Lewiston, ID, March 6, 1957, to William and Etta Traufer (deceased). Juanita graduated from Ferris High School in Spokane, WA. She worked for a short while for the Washington State Patrol Office before starting her career at the Community Colleges of Spokane as a Buyer in the Purchasing Dept., where she retired after 30 years. Juanita married the love of her life Rick Lucas on August 6, 1977. She was known for her fun, compassionate personality, and beautiful spirit. She had a passion for gardening, crafting, hunting, fishing, and most of all her beloved pets. She is survived by her husband Rick Lucas, sister Charlotte Ashenbrenner (husband Don), and Rick’s family, Steve & Vickie, Dan & Lorraine, Cindy, and numerous nieces and nephews. In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be made to the Spokane Humane Society. Please come and celebrate Juanita on Saturday, October 1, 2022 at the Inland Northwest Wildlife Council, 6116 N Market St, Spokane, WA, between 3 & 9 PM.
