Janice L Wallace

April 28, 1933 - February 11, 2015

Janice L. Wallace (age 81) Jan was born April 28, 1933 in Spokane, WA, to Mel and Evelyn Foedish, and passed away February 11, 2015. Jan attended West Valley High School and graduated in the Class of 1951. She went on to attend the University of Idaho where she was a cheerleader and met Bobby Malone Wallace. They married December 20, 1953, in Spokane, and welcomed their first child, Melanie, into the world June 2, 1955. Their second child, Jeff Wallace, was born February 13, 1958, also in Spokane. They then moved to California, where they lived in Fresno, Pasadena and Anaheim, as Bob pursued a career in retail management. Jan was a homemaker who spent countless hours refinishing antiques. She was also an avid golfer. The family moved back to Spokane in 1972, when Bob took a promotion to become the manager of the Bon Marche. Jan took up and taught oil painting as a hobby. She continued to be passionate about golf where she played, served as a golf marshal, and was the president of the Esmeralda women’s club. Jan’s greatest pleasure was her family, with whom she enjoyed many cruises. She also loved Christmas, throwing a huge party on Christmas Eve that packed the house with family, friends and food; she enjoyed decorating every inch of her home. In the summer there were many wonderful times spent around the pool. “Nana” had the special joy of getting to know and love her grandchildren and great grand-children. She is survived by her children, Melanie (Paul) Delaney and Jeff (Karine) Wallace; grandchildren, Danette (Joe) Lanet and Meghan; her great grandchildren, Logan and Emma; sister, Jean Kent, plus numerous nieces and nephews. Jan was preceded in death by her parents and her husband. A celebration of Jan’s life will take place at Valley Events Center, 10514 E. Sprague, Sunday, February 15, 2015, at 2 p.m. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions to be made to SCRAPS of Spokane or the Vanessa Behan Crisis Nursery.
