January 31, 1946 - April 21, 2022
Janice Kay Johnson, 76, passed away on April 21, 2022. Janice was born in 1946 in Aberdeen, Washington to Walter and Rose Lobeck. She fell in love and married John Johnson on November 7, 1964, in Bonners Ferry, Idaho. They had three children and raised their family in the Spokane Valley. Janice worked for Tidyman’s Grocery Store for more than 20 years and was well known and loved by the many employees and customers she greeted and visited with every day. Jan will be forever remembered for her deep and unending love for her children, grandchildren, nieces and nephews – she spent countless hours helping care for them and Jan and her husband attended and enjoyed all the events of their lives. Family was everything to her. Jan was preceded in death by her parents Walter and Rose and her beloved daughter-in-law Christine Johnson. She is survived by her husband John of 57 years, oldest son John Jr., daughter Jill (Scott), youngest son Jared (Tina), 14 grand/great grandchildren, sister Joyce (Ben) and 8 nieces and nephews. Jan fought a long and difficult battle with Parkinson’s disease. The family will contribute in her memory to The Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson’s Research toward education, development of improved therapies and an ultimate cure. They will also contribute in her memory to Autism Speaks in support of autism research - this was close to Jan’s heart as one of the lights of her life, grandson Andrew, is autistic. The family will celebrate Jan’s life later this summer. The Day God Called You Home God looked around His garden and found an empty space. Then He looked down upon the earth and saw your tired face. He put his arms around you, lifted you to rest. God’s garden must be beautiful, for He only takes the best. He knew that you were suffering. He knew you were in pain. He knew that you would never get well on earth again. He saw the road was getting rough and the hills were hard to climb. So, He closed your weary eyes and whispered, “Peace be thine.” It broke our hearts to lose you, but you did not go alone - for part of us went with you, the day God called you home.
