YOUNG, James Edwin, Jr. ""Jim"" Jim was born June 16, 1947 and passed away peacefully in his home on April 29, 2013. Jim's childhood was spent on a wheat and cattle ranch in Sprague, WA. He was active in boy scouts and 4-H. His steer won Grand Champion. He played Little League and Pony League baseball. While attending Sprague High School, he lettered in football, tennis, and basketball. In 1964 his team took third in State B Basketball. Jim was chosen Second Team All State and set the State B rebounding record for the most rebounds in a single game with 25. He graduated high school in 1965, and went on to play basketball at Wenatchee Valley Jr. College. In 1966, he enlisted in the United States Marine Corps. He was a Marksman and Communication Specialist while serving two tours in Vietnam, including the Battle of Khe Sanh. He was awarded the Purple Heart after being wounded in combat. He was honorably discharged in 1969. After serving his country, Jim worked many years in the construction industry and was a member of the Laborers Union. In his spare time, he enjoyed hunting, fishing and getting together with close friends. He leaves behind his loving family. Among them are his son Jason Young of Spokane, his daughter Heather Bajramovic (Elvis) of Spokane, his son Brandon Young (Morgan) of Sedro Woolley; his 10 grandchildren, Justin, Travis, Dylan, Jasmin, Alissa, Alex, Annie, Ashley, Riley, and Logan, and his sisters, Claudia, Sandra, and Michelle. He will also be greatly missed by his loyal K-9 companion, Smilie. Jim is preceded in death by his father, James Edwin Young, Sr., and his mother, Irene Elizabeth Young.
