Obituary for Gloria Laura Boyd

September 3, 1956 - January 24, 2024

Gloria Laura Boyd, 67, passed away on January 24th 2024 with her family by her side.  She is survived by her three children, and five grandchildren.  Gloria's life story began in Laredo, Texas when she was adopted by Pedro Garza and Juliana Garcia and was the youngest of the children.  In 1981, she married her only husband in California, where they raised their eldest daughter before moving to Washington where their youngest child was born and raised.

Gloria was a writer and an artist who expressed her creativity in a multitude of ways.  Through her handmade cards, sketches, curated decorations and even her distinct sense of style, she has brought people joy and memorable stories.  She is remembered fondly by her friends and caregivers, who have described her as like a second mother.  Gloria was a lover of animals, especially her own fur babies and was a fierce advocate for various animal rescue organizations.

Although Gloria did not live an easy life, she defied expectations through her belief in herself, her positivity and unwillingness to give up.  Making her a true survivor and a hero to the various communities she represented.  Gloria left this earth with her children knowing how proud she is of them, and her family and friends knowing how much they were loved and appreciated.
