Edward David McDonald

MCDONALD, Edward David

Edward David McDonald entered into eternal rest on December 18, 2024. He was born at his home in Bassett, VA to David and Virginia McDonald on September 14, 1940, joining his brother Bill and sister Ann.

Ed graduated from Bassett High School in 1958.  He joined the Air Force and was stationed at Geiger Field, WA where he met and married the love of his life, Dorene Rosenbaum.  They settled in Spokane, WA where they welcomed two daughters, Kim Marie and Kelly Jo.

Ed retired from Kaiser Trentwood in 1987.  He was an avid aviator, earning his private, instrument, commercial and multi-engine ratings.  He owned his own airplane and took his family on trips around the states.

Besides his love for his family, Ed loved his dogs and owned pugs for over 40 years.

Ed had many friends and felt his mission in life was to help others.  He loved being with family.  He was so proud of his two daughters and three granddaughters.  He enjoyed going to garage sales with Dorene, leading his Silvers group and traveling, especially on cruises.

Ed leaves behind his wife of 64 year years, Dorene, his daughters Kim Kubie (Keith) and Kelly Carrithers (Rob).  He is also survived by his granddaughters Sarah Kubie Chipka (Jake), Hannah and Ella Carrithers, and his sister Ann and niece Juliann.

There will be a celebration of life at a later date.  In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to SCRAPS or the Union Gospel Mission.
