Cecil H. Russell (Russ) passed away in his home in Greenacres, WA. He was 84. Russ joined the Navy in 1946 at the young age of 16 and headed off for the next 22 years on an adventure of a lifetime. He retired with the Rank of Navy Chief. Russ was a proud member of the Fleet Reserve Association, Inland Empire Branch 38, Spokane, WA. He was just honored as a 50 year member of the FRA. Russ moved to Greenacres, WA in 1968, he briefly worked for Fiberform Boat Manufacturing. He left there when he was hired at the U.S. Postal Service. He stayed with the Postal Service for over 20 years and retired for a second time. Russ enjoyed a lot of years fishing, hunting, and camping with his family and friends. He loved the outdoors. His great passion though was “gardening”. He was a great gardener!! He was preceded in death by his mother Dorothy, his father Cecil, his brother Harry and his beloved granddaughter Beth. Russ is survived by his daughter and husband Jayne and Joe, granddaughter Tami, grandson Eric, great-granddaughter Bethanie, great great granddaughters Emmarella and Gabriella, and great great grandson Russell. Also a sister-in-law Verna Ruth and numerous family members in Alabama. Russ did not want a memorial service. His family and friends will gather at a later date to celebrate his life. One of his neighbors told his daughter that “he was the neighborhood ornament” and Cheryl at Meals on Wheels said “he was one of the good guys”. GOD BLESS YOU “POPPY”. YOU WILL BE MISSED.
