Obituary for Beverly Fay Hanson February 26, 1941-February 12, 2025 Our beloved mother, Beverly Fay Hanson (Hoy), passed peacefully in her sleep on February 12, 2025, at Ridgeway Place in Spokane, Washington. The night prior, her eldest son and daughter-in-law had lovingly put her to bed, sensing that her time was near. He had notified his siblings, encouraging them to visit soon. Beverly was born a twin on February 26,1941, in Hot Springs, Montana, to Fae and Melvin Hoy. She and her twin sister, Barbara, shared a special bond throughout their lives. Their older brother, Bruce, was seven years old at the time of their birth. The family moved to Thompson Falls, Montana, between 1943 and 1945, where their father began working at a lumber mill. After their parents’ divorce in 1949, Beverly and her siblings remained in Thompson Falls, living with their father through their high school graduations. Beverly briefly attended the Kinman Business School in Spokane for computer punch card coding before marrying her high school sweetheart, Gary Jay Hanson, in 1959. Together, they lived in Choteau, then Missoula and Superior, before eventually returning to Thompson Falls in 1978. Beverly dedicated most of her life to caring for her family, but she also made an impact in her community as a Cub Scout Den Mother, Jacees member, PTA member, an election ballot volunteer, volunteer teacher aide, school cook and a spirited supporter at countless Blue Hawk (and Bobcat) athletic events. Later in life, she and her twin sister worked together in the Thompson Falls school cafeteria. Bev was a voracious reader and loved reading all kinds of novels. She also sewed, crocheted, and knitted. She used to knit with love baby blankets, hats, and other baby clothing and donate it to a program for young mothers who were in need of these items. Mom loved to sing and in the short time that she lived at Ridgeview Place she made an impact on staff and residents with her humor and love of music. She could sing along in any genre and made everyone's day a little brighter with her sweet disposition. Over the course of 40 years, she and her husband built Dry Gulch Red Angus,a beautiful 100 acre ranch up Ashley Creek in Thompson Falls, where they raised registered Red Angus. Mom was passionate about all her animals, flower beds (too many to count), and gardening. She found great joy in cooking daily for her family, especially during holiday meals, when family gathered to share love and laughter. She dearly loved Thompson Falls and had so many stories of growing up there and the life that she and her twin sister Barb shared. The two families got together often with adults playing card and board games and the kids playing together. Picnics in the woods, school dances, singing, family gatherings at home were what she treasured most. Beverly is survived by her three sons and their families: Craig (Jeneen), Todd (Cheryl), and Cole (Donna); six grandchildren: Matthew, Clete, Zachary, Elizabeth, Taylor, and Emily; and two great-grandchildren: Acacia and Thistle. She is preceded in death by her beloved husband of 59 years, Gary Jay Hanson (2018); brother, Bruce Hoy (2012); twin sister, Barbara Laws (2010); grandson, Gunnar Hanson (2022); father, Melvin Hoy (1992); and mother, Fae Livingston (1986). Beverly was deeply religious and after the passing of her husband she regularly said that she looked forward to going to heaven where she can walk with Jesus and be with her husband, twin sister and other family members. Her sincerity, love, kindness, sweet personality and unconditional support and love for her family will be deeply missed, but her legacy lives on in the hearts of those she touched. A small gathering of family and close friends will be held later in the spring. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Thompson Falls Public Schools.
