Agnes Lorraine Rablin

Updated: Jan 25

January 09, 1939 - October 31, 2023

Agnes, of Cheney, Washington passed away on October 31, 2023, after battling multiple health issues over the past few years. Her devoted family was able to visit with her and pray over her the evening before she passed. Agnes was born on January 9,1939 to Michael & Harriet Doyle in St. John’s, Newfoundland, Canada. Shortly after high school she was swept off her feet by Richard C. Rablin while he was stationed in Newfoundland with the U.S. Air Force and they were married on April 25,1959 in St. John’s. Agnes devoted herself to her family as she uprooted and lived the military life. This included much sacrifice on her part as moving was frequent and included a year apart while Richard was stationed in South Korea. They had three children, Rick, Lynn and Ken and eventually settled in Cheney, WA in 1973. They were married for almost 24 years until Richard passed away suddenly in 1983. She met the second love of her life, John Krauter, in 1991 and they enjoyed 32 years together until illness prevented them from being together in recent months. Agnes loved her family and was passionate about being a wonderful wife, partner and mother. Her meals and baked goods were legendary and a favorite of not only her family, but their friends as well. It was quite the norm for some of her children’s friends to be present at the dinner table. And, if you were a fruitcake lover, hers were the best! We all looked forward to receiving them over the holidays each year. She also loved dancing, playing cards with friends, reading and gardening. She worked at Fairchild Air Force base as a vender representative for a number of years where she met and worked with some great friends. She was predeceased by her parents, Michael and Harriet (Halliday) Doyle; Brothers Steven, Maxwell, Joseph, Patrick, and Michael and sister Helen Kirby. She is survived by her partner, John Krauter, her children Rick Rablin (Donna), Lynn Rablin and Ken Rablin (Shareen), six grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. She will also be missed by her brothers, Edward (Valgene), Johnny (Rosalind), and Gilbert, and sisters Laura McCabe (Martin), Theresa Scott, and Lorraine Webber (Mark), sister-in-law, Gen Doyle, brother-in-law Robert Kirby and many nieces and nephews. A heartfelt thank you to the staff at Liberty Lake Adult Family Home and Horizon Hospice for their compassionate care. A graveside service will be held at Spokane-Cheney Memorial Gardens in Spokane, WA on November 10, 2023 at 2 PM. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in her name to the American Diabetes Association.
